Filter FAQ

Why does water come out of my backwash hose when I am in Filter Mode?

Remove screws on side of multiport valve and lift off. Check condition of spider gasket. A twisted or well-worn gasket will affect the proper operation of your filter and cause water to come out the backwash line. Replace spider gasket.

I have a heater. Why is it so important to monitor alkalinity and pH?

Failure to maintain acceptable alkalinity and pH levels in your pool can cause corrosion of the inside of your heater. Symptom: Water coming out of your heater usually means the heat exchanger is corroded.

I think the spring under my multiport valve is broken. How did this happen?

Forgetting to turn off your filter when switching between filter and backwash modes will damage the spring.

My heater reads “LO”. What does this mean?

This means low pressure. Try putting your filter on Recirculate. If heater works, it means backwashing is necessary. After backwashing, heater should work properly.

My pool is very green. What should I do?

Try shocking your pool by adding 5 gallons of liquid chlorine per 10,000 gallons of water. If pool does not clear within 2 hours, there may be a problem with your filter. Call Central Jersey Pools for a service call.
