Spa Chemical Report

Easier Hot Water Maintenance

Spa specialty chemicals are designed to handle specific hot water maintenance problems such as foam, turbidity, scum lines, scale build-up and staining. This, in turn, improves water quality, reduces eye and skin irritation, and decreases chemical consumption, reducing the amount of maintenance required.

But many consumers wonder why these products are necessary if they maintain the water in their spa within the ideal parameters for free chlorine, bromine, pH, calcium hardness and total alkalinity.

Spas are not Swimming pools:
The answer is simple: spas are not miniature swimming pools they have unique requirements in terms of water chemistry because of their high water temperature, smaller volume of water, concentrated bather load and high evaporation rate, which can lead to a rapid build-up of contaminants. Two people in a 400-gallon spa, for example, are the equivalent to 200 people in a 20 ft. x 40 ft. swimming pool. “Even though the water in the spa may be in balance, problems can still occur.” Jeff Martin, chemical consultant in the Pool and Spa Chemical Department of Central Jersey Pools. “Thats why we offer specialty spa products that we do.” By bringing in a sample of your spa water for a free complete spa analysis, you can enjoy your spa year-round with little or no maintenance needed.
