Hot Tub Sanitizing Systems – Dispensers and Generators

One good method of adding a dose of granular sanitizer to the water is to dissolve the sanitizer in a watering can with some water. The mixture is then just poured right into the hot tub. Some hot tub warranties are rendered void if sanitizer tablets are deposited directly into the skimmer. You can ask us at Central Jersey Pools if this applies to you. Tablets can be placed into a floating sanitizer dispenser. It is a floating, plastic container which allows water into it to dissolve the tablets placed inside it. These dispensers should be tied to a calm region of the spa, to prevent the tablets from dissolving to quickly.
If young children use the hot tub, they should be watched carefully to ensure that they do not handle the dispenser. Serious chemical burns can be the result of high concentrations of sanitizers.
Sometimes, chlorine or bromine dispensers are built right into the spa. If you have one built in, it is probably in front if the filter in the skimmer.
Some sanitizing systems allow for the broadcasting of fine chlorine granular into the hot tub. Never use coarse granular sanitizer in a hot tub. The large grains will settle on the bottom and can cause discoloration of your hot tub’s shell.
